Every Child, a Beloved Child of God

Kids at Grace Avenue is a place where children and their families can feel safe, loved, and cared for while discovering the amazing love of Jesus. Our Children’s Ministry team partners with families to nurture faith, build community, and share God’s love. We want every child to know and believe that they are a Beloved Child of God – valued, accepted, and loved just as they are.

Sunday Mornings

Nursery

Birth – PreK | 9:15am & 10:30am | Rooms 117, 119, 121, and 123

We have appointed rooms for children to be cared for by paid care givers while parents attend worship and Sunday groups. Children will participate in age-appropriate lessons and play in a safe environment.

Sunday School

K – 5th Grade | 9:15am & 10:30am | EDGE Room

Drop off your kiddos at Sunday School on your way to worship. We gather together for a time of greeting and assembly before children then break out into age-level Sunday School classrooms for lessons and activities.

Songbirds Children’s Choir

K – 5th Grade | During 9:15am Sunday School | EDGE Room
Songbirds is an exciting opportunity for children to be a part of the praise and worship of God at Grace Avenue. Ms. Olivia Cottar leads this group in singing, games, and learning. Children who want to participate in Songbirds will begin the 9:15am Sunday School hour in the EDGE room, break out for music, and then reintegrate into the group for the Sunday School lesson time.

If my child attends Songbirds, are they also able to attend the 10:30am Sunday School hour?

YES! We will offer two different formats and lessons.

What will I do while my child is in Songbirds?

During the 9:15am, hour we offer two different expressions of worship. You can attend Worship in the Sanctuary or A Different Door in the Worship Center. Head to graceavenue.org/congregations to learn more about these services.

You can also participate in one of the adult groups or studies that take place at 9:15. Head to graceavenue.org/adults to learn more about the Sunday Groups and what studies are currently being offered.

What if my child can’t be here every Sunday?

Not a problem. Although we would love to have your child in attendance every Sunday, we know that is not always possible. We ask that you be present as often as you can.

What if we attend the 9:15am hour but my child does not want to be in the Songbirds choir?

They will attend Sunday School as they always have. Those who only want to participate in Sunday School will gather in the EDGE Room at 9:15am and then separate into a different room for a lesson and activities.

Miss Olivia received her Choral Music Education Degree from the University of North Texas in 2025. She has been singing with the Grace Avenue Sanctuary Choir since 2023, and she teaches music lessons at the School of Music at Grace Avenue. Olivia has a passion for sharing the power of music with children, and we are so grateful for her leadership at Grace Avenue. Worship

Children are welcome to join their parents for worship! Having children in the service is not only an opportunity for them to be part of the broader church community, but it is a joy for the congregation to see and hear children in worship. No need to worry about noise – kiddos and all their sounds are a beautiful reminder of intergenerational ministry. We have resources just for children to accompany their worship experiences: coloring pages, sermon note pages, fidgets, and other things to help keep little minds and hands engaged throughout the service. Whether it’s best for your family to find your own spaces or to worship all together, there is a place for each of you at Grace Avenue.

Volunteer

As we prepare for a new season of ministry, we would love to invite you to be part of our Children’s Ministry team! Serving in Sunday School is a meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of our kids—and it only requires a commitment of one Sunday a month.

Here’s how it works:

All children gather in EDGE room for large group opening.
Children then gather for their lesson taught by you.
9:15 Hour: All elementary-aged children are together in a large group setting.
10:30 Hour: Children are split into smaller groups by age:
Kindergarten–1st, 2nd–3rd, and 4th–5th grades.

All supplies and curriculum are fully prepared and sent to you ahead of time—so you can focus on connecting with the kids rather than planning! You won’t be doing this alone—you’ll be part of a supportive and flexible team that understands life happens. Whether you’re comfortable leading a group or just helping in the room, we have a place for you. Edge: 4th & 5th Grade Fellowship

4th & 5th Grade | 2nd Sundays of the Month | 4:00-5:30pm | Edge Room

This is a monthly meeting for 4th & 5th graders to have fun, connect, and just be themselves! We gather at the church for fun things like pizza and dance parties, and sometimes we meet offsite at waterparks and playgrounds. As our kiddos get older, they begin to form long lasting friendships and ask more grown-up questions. This is the space where they can do just that as they round out elementary school together.

1-2 year olds
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 9:00am-2:00pm | September – May

Our mission is to create a loving, safe, and Christian environment in which our youngest children can grow socially as well as academically. We believe that our children learn through guided play. Through guided play, circle time, music and movement, outdoor play, and hands-on activities, children will use their 5 senses to learn about the world around them.

Summer Camps

Each summer we have opportunities for children to come to several different summer camps. All camps are open for children who are 4 years old (by September 1, 2025) through completed 5th grade.

Rainbow Corner Preschool

2-5 Year Olds | September - May

Our preschool program operates Monday-Friday from 9:00am-2:00pm with class schedules that vary by age. 

We’re here for Moms, too

MAMAS is an inclusive group of moms gathering to share in the beautiful craziness that is motherhood! This women’s ministry is for moms of all ages and stages of life. Gatherings will have community, speakers, activities, breakfast, and a chance to just breathe and relax. Childcare is available.
